How can communities of the southern Cumberland Plateau increase the economic benefits of tourism generated by South Cumberland State Park, Tennessee’s largest wilderness state park?

That's the focus of Cumberland Wild II, set for July 14 in Beersheba Springs. It will be a day for the whole family, with outdoor activities, music, exhibits by local artists and craft people, and a forum on the subject at 2:30.
 

  • 8:00 – Big Creek Rim Trail hike – leaving from Stone Door ranger station, 7 mi.
     

  • 9:00 – Rappelling at the Great Stone Door, sponsored by the Grundy County High Angle Rescue Team
     

  • 9:30 – Big Bluff Overlook hike – leaving from Greeter Falls parking lot, 2.5 mi.
     

  • 10:00 -- Arts in the Park, a drawing and painting workshop, sponsored by the Grundy County Arts Council. Meet at the Stone Door ranger station
     

  • 10:00 – 2:30 Crafts, music, exhibits, workshops, food, children’s activities at the Beersheba Springs Hotel
     

  • 10:30 – Great Stone Door hike – leaving from Stone Door ranger station, 2 mi.
     

  • 10:30 – Throwing Down country and rock band at the Beersheba Springs Hotel

  • 12:00 – Sarah Mallory, country, folk, blues singer at the Beersheba Springs Hotel 
  • 2:30 – Forum at Beersheba Springs Hotel. Topic: what can we do to foster increased economic benefit from the tourism generated by South Cumberland?
