Greetings,

A few quick news items for you today:

June Activities Now Online

South Cumberland planned activities are now online, visit www.friendsofscsra.org/activities.htm

The most requested activities for June include:
  • Thursday, June 12, 2008

9:00 AM    Rappelling at Stone Door  -  Sign up for a beginner rappel off the Stone Door Bluffs. Participants must first sign up by calling the Visitor Center at (931) 924-2980 as there will only be 12 spots available. Equipment will be provided. Meet at the Stone Door Ranger Station and bring water and snacks.

  • Friday, June 20, 2008

2:00 PM    Sport Climbing How-To-Clinic  -  Are you ready to move from the world of top-roping to sport climbing? Meet Ranger Jason at the Foster Falls parking lot for a beginner’s course on this different style of rock climbing. Basic skills of climbing and rope work required. Due to limited equipment, call South Cumberland’s Park Office to reserve your spot. (931) 924-2980.

  •  Sunday, June 22, 2008

10:00 AM    Cave Program  -  Discover the strange but beautiful world below the surface of the park. Come to the Carter State Natural Area parking lot for this strenuous 5-mile round trip hike. Bring two sources of light, water, and a light snack

 Friends Annual Meeting June 14

The annual meeting will be held June 14 at the park Visitors Center.  Friends board members and volunteers will provide lunch. Music will be provided by the Bazzania Band. With help from Tennessee State Naturalist Randy Hedgepath, we are still working in a program that both adults and children will enjoy.

The agenda will include reports about the status of the Park and Friends programs, election of officers and directors, and presentation of the Jim Prince Award.
